Thermal behaviour of ladle slag mortars containing ferrochrome slag aggregates

چکیده

Concretes, depending on their application, may be exposed to elevated temperatures during lifetime, especially when placed near or in a furnace an accidental fire. The thermal stability of alkali-activated mortars and hydrated prepared using ladle slag two different aggregates was studied. A commercial calcium aluminate cement used as comparison for the properties after exposure up 1000°C. All samples were characterised analysed through strength test, dilatometric analysis, thermogravimetric ultrasonic pulse velocity scanning electron microscopy. exhibited similar better than cement, while slag's inferior mortars. tests also showed that use ferrochrome those sand aggregate damage behaviours dependent temperature-induced dehydration, dehydroxylation incompatibility between paste aggregates. results from this study specify possibilities 100% industrial by-product-based mortar near-zero carbon dioxide emissions fire-resistant material furnaces, buildings fireplaces.

The Interfacial Transition Zone in Alkali-Activated Slag Mortars

The interfacial transition zone (ITZ) is known to strongly influence the mechanical and transport properties of mortars and concretes. This paper studies the ITZ between siliceous (quartz) aggregates and alkali-activated slag (AAS) binders in the context of mortar specimens. Backscattered electron (BSE) images generated in an environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) are used to identif...

INVESTIGATION ON SLAG-REFRACTORY INTERACTION IN LADLE USING COMPUTATIONAL TECHNIQUES

Abstract: Thermodynamic computational packages MTDATA and FactSage have been used to carry out calculations on the variation with temperature of the phases precipitated on cooling in both oxidising and reducing conditions of a typical ladle slag composition, in the temperature range 1700 - 900°C. The current coverage of the databases associated with the computational packages is discussed i...

Mechanical and leaching behaviour of slag-cement and lime-activated slag stabilised/solidified contaminated soil.

Stabilisation/solidification (S/S) is an effective technique for reducing the leachability of contaminants in soils. Very few studies have investigated the use of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) for S/S treatment of contaminated soils, although it has been shown to be effective in ground improvement. This study sought to investigate the potential of GGBS activated by cement and lime...

Investigation of Rutting Performance of WMA Mixtures Containing Copper Slag

Copper slag (CS) is an abrasive blasting grit made of granulated slag from metal smelting processes. As copper slags are known to be waste material and cause a lot of environmental problems, it would be a good idea to use them in different sections of industry such as pavement construction. On the other hand, in order to save energy and reduce the amount of pollutants re...

Slag Behavior in Gasifiers. Part II: Constitutive Modeling of Slag

The viscosity of slag and the thermal conductivity of ash deposits are among two of the most important constitutive parameters that need to be studied. The accurate formulation or representations of the (transport) properties of coal present a special challenge of modeling efforts in computational fluid dynamics applications. Studies have indicated that slag viscosity must be within a certain r...
